If you are looking to have a worry free move, the key is making the right selection of a moving company. Choosing the right moving company can be difficult, which is why we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions. By looking over this list, you can determine if our business fits your moving needs. If you read over this page and still have questions about our company, feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email.

When should I reserve my move?

When it comes to looking for local moving companies, you are encouraged to begin planning weeks in advance. If you can get a moving date reserved about a month before your move, you’ll most likely do an optimal decision. What you don’t want to do is wait until the last minute, and be a week before your move without a company ready to help. This is especially important at the end of the month, on weekends, and generally during the summer months. Choosing your moving company early will help to make sure that all schedules are cleared and they can focus their efforts completely on your move.

Getting an estimate

For local moves, we charge on an hourly basis, and provide generic online estimates based on cumulative moving experience. For examples 1-bedroom apartments are generally given at least 3-6 hours to be relocated. If you are planning a big move, or a complex office move we can offer you a free complimentary visual estimate in areas proximal to our physical location. During your initial call, our moving estimator will offer to travel to your home or place of business and provide you with a written quote. We’ll do this by assessing your valuables and the labor that it will take in order to move them to their next destination. We do not charge our clients for the local visual estimates.

What type of trucks do you use?

Fastruck Moving utilizes two types of moving vans based on the customers' needs. We have 26' enclosed box trucks with hydraulic lifts for larger moves, and 20’ enclosed box trucks for smaller moving needs. Generally, larger trucks are appropriate for 3-5 bedroom moves, and 20’ trucks are reserved for 1-2 bedroom apartment moves. However if you feel that you need to move larger than usual amount of household items from 1-2 bedroom residency, please notify our reservation agent prior to move. Additionally smaller trucks are utilized in hard to reach canyon areas of Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hills. Additionally we use light utility vehicles such as Toyota Prius for labor only projects.

Our Experience

Fastruck Moving Company has been in business since 2009. You might be impressed that 65% of our business is from repeat customers. All of our moving experts have been properly trained to safely transport your possessions. We screen all of our employees for prior criminal history and utilize random drug-testing program to prevent poor performance.

Choosing The Right Time For A Move

As most local moving companies would say, you should choose the moving time that is right for you. The busiest time periods to move is during the summer months and during the holidays at the end of the year, so keep that in mind. But at the end of the day, the decision on choosing what time to move is one that you must make for your family or your business.

Duration of a Move

The length of a service time can be impacted by a number of different things. Things such as the weather, load size, and even road traffic can impact the duration of your move. Other factors that certainly affect the work time, are presence of stairs, speed and availability of elevator, walking distance from your residence to the truck, etc. We can give you a estimate on the duration of your move, but we cannot be 100% certain that our prediction will be entirely accurate.

How do I pay for moving services?

We accept cash and credit cards. In accordance with California regulations we require payment to be submitted before your household is fully unloaded.

Curbing My Moving Expenses

You can lower your moving expenses through several different methods. The first is handling the packing, unpacking, assembly, and disassembly of your valuables on your own. By packing all of your items on your own time, you will save money on one of the most time consuming processes in the moving business. Further, you can choose to move lighter items on your own in the personal vehicle. Another useful tip to decrease the costs is to gather most of the items in the room closest to the entrance. Lastly, weeks, or even months before you move consider selling or donating items that you are unlikely to use in future

What supplies are included?

Our hourly rates include all basic materials necessary for a safe move. Moving blankets, plastic wrap and packing tape are always free, We also provide wardrobe boxes for temporary use. However, packing boxes, bubble wrap, and packing paper are not included in our rates, but readily available for purchase.

Assembly And Disassembly Of Furniture

Yes, like most of other moving companies, we offer assembly and disassembly services. We provide various tools to accomplish this part of the moving process. This service can be time consuming, and some clients choose to save money by performing the task on their own.

Are my possessions protected against damage?

Each order comes with free and mandatory cargo insurance. Unfortunately it provides coverage of 60 cents per pound, per damaged article. If additional coverage is desired, we encourage you to research outside insurance vendors for comprehensive moving insurance options.

Appliances and refrigerators

The items that require servicing include appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators. To make sure that these appliances get to their next location safely, we take precaution by padding and wrapping them, and securely fastening shipments inside the truck. All appliances, particularly gas based appliances, must be disconnected and serviced prior to our labor moving them. Our moving crews can disconnect these appliances for you, but cannot extend liability protection related to gas and water leaks that potentially might occur.

Valuables and Fragile items

Some people prefer to move their high priced valuables on their own, since these items can be fragile. If you decide to pack these items on your own, try to use a sufficient cushioning. Crushed paper works very well for protection of fragile items, such as chinaware and crystal glasses. Bubble wrap can be used for padding of electronics and picture frames. If you are packing a box, you need to make sure that the heaviest items are on the bottom of the box with the lighter items placed on top. Make sure that there is plenty of cushioning in between the items. Make sure that all boxes with valuable and fragile items in them are marked "fragile" in big, bold letters.

Should I empty the dressers?

It is okay to pack clothing in your drawers that is lightweight. But you cannot pack heavy items in your dresser drawers such as table linens or books. Make sure that no fragile items such as jewelry or electronics are left in drawers either. Liquids that can leak are also a bad idea for drawers. You’ll want to make sure that your drawers are either empty or packed with light weight clothes.

Moving Frozen Foods

We can move frozen foods for you in a limited capacity. In order to be safely moved, frozen foods have to be handled with care and they are usually kept in an appliance like a freezer for the duration of the move. While it is usually easier to use the foods prior to the move or to donate them, we can accommodate clients who want us to have their frozen foods moved. Please contact us prior to your move so that we can provide you with accommodation if you’d like to have your frozen foods moved. Keep in mind, that majority of refrigerator manufacturers recommend keeping the appliances unplugged for at least 24 hours, and generally speaking emptying the freezer is the best choice.

Moving Plants

We can move your house plants, however cannot be liable for their survival for a variety of reasons. Plants can’t be properly cared for when in our vans and can suffer from a lack of light and water. Plants can also be damaged when transported inside of our vans due to shifting items and temperature changes.
